Dala Large Crack Base

The Dala Large Crack Base is a decoupage medium that allows you to create beautiful crackle effects on items. This product will add an antique look to your items.

This Dala Large Crack Base is best used in conjunction with Dala Crackle Glaze. Using these two products together will give you the best results. By using the Dala Large Crack Base as an undercoat, antique-looking cracks will appear on the item you are decorating. You can then paint and decorate these cracks to finalise and complete the artwork.

How to use Dala Large Crack Base

Firstly, apply a layer of the base medium and allow it to dry thoroughly. Once it is completely dry, apply a generous layer of Dala Crackle Glaze, thereafter allow it to dry for 24 hours. Importantly, do not speed up the drying process by using direct heat or sunlight, as this will alter the outcome. Once it is thoroughly dry, you can apply some Dala Oil Paint that has been diluted with turpentine into the cracks. You can seal the crackle effect with any Dala solvent-based varnish.

Clean up any spills and messes using warm soapy water.
